Pettengill Family Fall Photos

Pettengill Family Fall 2016

Basically my kids are the hardest ever to photograph and being a a photographer myself I have photographed many children and I've come up with 2 conclusions.

O N E: because I'm taking the photos the kids assume position and be as silly as possible

T W O: They are just hard little ones to photograph.

With that being said I do all of our photos myself because of this reason because I don't want to pay someone else a lot of money for kids who won't sit still. I think its reasonable plus I HAVE to know how the photos look immediately or drives me crazy so I go home and start editing away. One thing I love is seeing photos in the raw. I love how happy my littles are. Ivy (the three year old) this is her real smile. She is just happy always. She's always been this way she will eat your heart out. Imogen (the five year old) she is pro at giving you the craziest smile ever. Switching expressions is her expertise. Both Skyler and I captured these little smiles on Saturday unfortunately Ivy ran off and played so we didnt get many photos of her but we got a few and of course when we wanted all three of the kids to sit together they would only do if momma was around but I love them so much they're my world.

With that being said enjoy our family photos. This is the closest it gets to Fall in Southern California but it is completely beautiful.

How to create a dream board that will accomplish your life long goals.

How to create a dream board that will accomplish your life long goals.

Have you ever wanted to accomplish a goal or multiple goals but you really don't know where to start or to find the motivation. Maybe your not in the best place in your life or where you thought you might be by the time you were however old you are. I think at some point in all of our lives we can find ourselves stuck and needing help.

Growing up my dad would tell me if I wanted something bad enough that I could make it happen. Envisioning your dreams, personal desires, goals is the first step in making it happen. My dad also LOVES making Vision boards. You would know if he was making one by the tiny clippings of paper, scissors, glue and magazines that were scattered around his office. My dad would be very serious about his vision boards as well. He would always make sure to leave it out in the open. Like in the kitchen or his office somewhere that he could look at his vision board several times throughout the day.

Why have a vision board and how do they work? Firstly when you write anything down you are five times more likely to accomplish that task, goal, errand whatever you've written down. So when you can see the things you want in front of you the chances of you accomplishing that goal is even better. Vision boards are one of the minds most powerful exercises.

Written from the book The Secret, “The law of attraction is forming your entire life experience and it is doing that through your thoughts. When you are visualizing, you are emitting a powerful frequency out into the Universe.”

Vision boards are great reminders of the successes that await you.

What you need:

  • poster board, cork board, dry erase board etc. (cork boards are best)
  • magazines, you can even search pinterest
  • glue
  • scissors

Start by collecting all the things you would like to put on your board and glue or attach to your board. Be sure to label everything. The more clear your goals are the more attainable they will be.

I have made a Dream/Vision board here online and pinterest for you all to see as well as in my home. Remember Clear intentions will provide clear answers.

7 things I wished I had known before becoming a mom

7 things I wished I had known before becoming a mom

I am a mom of three pretty adorable kids. I'm also a military wife which makes things a little more complicated than your normal mom. In the military they call anyone who is related to the actual military member a " dependent " however we " dependents " are anything but dependent.

A little backstory. In 2010 I moved to New York City to work where I had met my husband. After a few months of dating we decided to get married. So I headed home from NYC packed up whatever I could fit into my 2002 Honda accord grabbed my BFF and we drove to Connecticut. It took us 2.5 days to do it. Looking back at my 19 year old self I do applaud myself because it was an adventure. Two girls who had never traveled to the other side of the country we were basically living on a prayer. We got there safely a few days after being there she left and I was alone. Of course I had Skyler but a few days after she had left he left for an underway (an underway is when a submarine leaves the base for whatever reason could be for testing, deployment or even for some sailors to do certain qualifications.) He left for 2 weeks. My 19 year old self alone 2,000 miles away from the only place I ever knew to be home, away from everyone I knew. And then he left. It was like this for months. If you haven't been to New England then imagine this. Driving on roads that only fit mini coopers. The roads were tiny of course they were because this is where people lived when they came over from England. A lot of New England has similar characteristics of England.

Basically what I'm saying here is that I had no choice but to be independent.

Everything that I know as an adult is the result of leaving home as a adult/teenager and learning things the hard way. The first year we were married Skyler was home 4 months. Our first daughter was born in August of 2011. A week after she was born he was gone again for a few months. It continued on like this until the next year when he deployed. So here I am a young mother not having anyone to really rely on or to turn to being so far away. I look back and just wished that someone would have told me a thing or two about being a mom. What to expect or to not expect. So first thing is first.

  1. SURVIVE. Okay I am being completely serious. My main motto as a mom especially having more kids than I do hands is that you just need to survive. Your hair does not need to be perfect. The house does not need to be spotless and you know what? Laundry its just a mountain of a never ending pile of despair. With that being said it. IT CAN WAIT! Babies grow up and then they aren't babies anymore. The mess can wait it'll be there tomorrow. But one day those little ones won't. So if you do just that and " survive " each day to me you are the most amazing mom. You don't need to jam pack your days with park outings, lunch dates, trips to the mall. I think its safe to say that your kids would be happy playing with YOU. As a mom the older my kids get I realize how vital it really is to be attentive to their needs even if to you it seems small because to them its HUGE.

  2. Listen to your heart. In the world of becoming a parent you will soon realize a few things. That to a lot of people its " my way or the high way ". You will meet some who think there is only one way to do things. One way to parent. Everyone is different. Some parents choose to vaccinate others choose to not some even delay vaccinations. Some parents feed their babies formula while others breastfeed until they're 2 years old. Other parents feed their kids pb&j sandwiches or macaroni and some parents feed their kids exclusively organic, non-gmo, gluten free etc. Some parents cloth diaper and some do disposable. What I'm saying here is everyone is different. There is no right or wrong way to parent AS LONG AS YOUR CHILD IS HAPPY AND KNOWS THEY ARE LOVED.  Obviously there is more to it making sure they're healthy etc. But in the world of parenting it can be twisted and distorted resulting in you feeling like you are not a good parent. A little advice I've learned in the past 5 years. If you have to question or be concerned if you are being a good mom, chances are, you are. Everyone has an off day. No one is perfect and every day we can start fresh as long as we strive to be better and focus on our kids' happiness, I would say you get an A+ in parenting.

  3. The mommy competition. You are going to feel like you are never enough or that everything has to always be perfect. From your hair to the way your kids are dressed. You'll feel like someone is always outdoing you. Here's a little secret. WHO CARES! Guess what? They probably feel the exact same way as you! We are all struggling moms. And I think the important thing here is to remember that we all are striving to be in the same place. Go the same direction. Do the same things. We just want our kids to be happy and healthy. Can you imagine how much better the world would be if we cut out the mommy competition and all us moms just leaned on each other for help. We all have unique skills and gifts that could easily benefit everyone if we were just a little more kind and loving to each other.

  4. Communication is key. I feel like as a mom we have the weight of the world on our shoulders. We're programmed to think we have to do it all. But that is far from true. If you need help reach out to those who love you. They will help. If you need a break take a break! Its crucial as a mom that we take care of ourselves too because if we don't how will we ever take care of our little ones? With my first daughter I had severe postpartum depression. The countless nights I would cry myself to sleep while Skyler away on the submarine it was hard. Its so important to talk to someone, have adult conversations it'll help you in more ways than you realize.

  5. Self Love. Each time I've had a baby I've found that I forget about myself completely and focus on everyone else. Essentially forgetting to eat, shower and sometimes I would wear throw up clothes all day. You just forget about yourself. But hey! Us moms need loving too. Whether it be at the gym or grocery shopping alone which for those first time moms you will soon learn that a trip to the store or any outing without a child quickly becomes a short lived vacation. Funny thing is that after 1 hour you start to feel like your missing a limb and come back to the chaos that was driving you crazy but at the same time you missed. Remember you are important.

  6. The melt downs and guilt. All I ever heard was that parenting would be a breeze and that to not worry. While they were right on the not worrying part they were not so much on the breeze part. More like stormy hurricane winds. Being a mom is REALLY FLIPPING HARD. You can totally do it. But it is the hardest job in the world. And as kids grow sometimes some swears will be thrown down. Or you'll scream into a pillow because you have to tell them something for the thousandth time. And right as you've clean up the sea of toys in their room and you walk away to clean the spilled milk you'll hear the 3 year old pouring out the toys again. Just remember this. Next time Just part that red sea. Make a walk way. I've decided that the 3 year old dumps out all the toys because well.. Its just easier finding what she needs when everything is right where she can find it. Make things easier on you and just roll with the punches. If they're having a melt down in public get on their level and look them in the eye and just hug them. I think at this point all they want is for someone to understand them. And please remember to not feel guilty. The countless nights I lay wide awake staring at the ceiling going over the day feeling I wished the day went differently just remember tomorrow is a new day. A clean slate. A fresh start. And no matter what.. they will always love you.

  7.  Always Say I love you. We often forget that kids are so impressionable. Their little brains are still developing at rapid rates. In a moments time things can get out of hand and anything that can go wrong will go wrong. Just stay calm. They watch your every move. I'm not even kidding you. The older my children have gotten I have witnessed with my own two eyes they watch you. Recently I noticed my 3 year old quietly fold her arms during our routine family prayer each night after we read stories. She is with me all day everyday. You can bet that she learned that from home. Each time I've been frustrated or upset with one of my kids no matter what I look them in the eyes and say I love you. At the end of each day I always tell them " I love you " there is nothing more important in the world than for a child to know and feel that they are safe and loved.

These are just a few things that have helped me from time to time because really being a parent is the most wonderful, joyful, incredibly scary journey that you will ever take in your lifetime. Its so intimidating to think that we are solely responsible for the life of another human being(s). But at the same time how lucky we are to be able to have that opportunity. I am reminded constantly the blessings of being a mom. If you take anything away from this list then let it be just this and that is that the days you feel like you are not enough remember each moment you are taking care of your child you are doing God's work. You have been trusted with angels. Its incredible to think of it in a such a way that God could entrust us with his angels. When you feel like you are not enough remember God thought you were more than enough and just perfect to be the mother of his Heavenly children he sent into your life.

And I'm not even ashamed to say that I have watched all the seasons of Gilmore Girls a handful of times since Netflix had the great idea to put on all the seasons!  Skyler doesn't understand me but he also doesn't understand Gilmore Girls either its really unfortunate! But it won't stop me! I am on season 7 for the 5th times soaking up each episode to last me till November! I cannot wait!!!

The Greatest Autumn Bucket List of 2016

The Greatest Autumn Bucket List of 2016

A serious must to get the most out of your Autumn season!

How many can you honestly say you've already done this season? So far 13 but I can't blame myself though! Here in Southern California Mother Nature thinks its summer.. " The land of summer " I call it. I miss the seasons. I feel so backwards here. I know once we move we will be shaking in our boots when we experience any weather under 70 degrees but I think thats a given.

It feels like just yesterday Immy (who is 5 now) just turned one in this picture and we were waiting for Skyler to come home from deployment. 2012 was a crazy year but so much fun! That fall season was so fun. The anticipation of waiting for Deployment coming to an end and being able to have our family under one roof. I will say this. The one thing you never tire of in the military is that you get to experience your first kiss more than once. Most would call me crazy but I would do it all over again to experience a first kiss like that again. Anyways enjoy the season and the cold weather! For those of us who live in the land of summer we can only hope mother nature will throw in a few below 80 degrees in here and there but until December you can expect at least one or two 90 degree days in the months that you would think would be colder. California has been good to us but I am counting down the days till we move on to better things. On to the next chapter of life.

October Calendar Download

October

October Calendar

So I am a few days late on posting this cute calendar download but I'm better late than ever! I can't believe its October! Where has the time gone but also it feels like it took forever to finally get here! How does that even happen? I dont think we'll ever know! We have so much planned this month! This weekend we are heading to Big Bear Lake to get our real first experience of the autumn weather this season and indulge in the fall foliage. Its been since Autumn 2013 that I have seen any kind of autumn weather besides leaving turning from green to dead so you can imagine how excited I am!

We are also picking pumpkins from Cal Poly farm store in pomona from their pumpkin patch they do every year. We have a friend from our church that manages the store and its a huge hit each Autumn season. Hundreds attend every year and you wouldn't believe how crazy it gets! People have to park miles away toting their kids in wagons and strollers just to pick these amazing pumpkins!

And we can't forget going to Oak Glen cider mill for apple cider donuts and Snow Lined Orchard for apple picking. The girls love apples. Ivy has always been a huge fan of apples we find her sneaking into the kitchen getting her late night snack or her " late night apple " every night. And as gross as it may be finding apple cores sitting on her dresser in the morning it is nice knowing she likes to pick healthy snacks. Speaking of healthy snacks this last week Imogen also learned about apples at school. She talked all week long of Johnny apple seed and how " An apple a day keeps the doctor away " wouldn't you know she can't get enough of apples now. So 10 dollars worth of honey crisp apples later we have two healthy little eaters! Yay for that!

With that being said I hope you have an incredible autumn season! Enjoy the fall foliage wherever you are and eat lots of pumpkin anything this season! Be sure to click the button below the calendar image above to get your October Calendar download!

The Ultimate Fall Movie Playlist

The Ultimate Fall Movie Playlist

The most wonderful season of the year is here. My favorite at least. As the days become shorter and you find yourself inside hiding from the crisp autumn air, snuggling in your favorite spot,  watching movies is always the perfect way to end the day. I for one love to watch a good film. Just the other day I for the first time watched American Beauty. It was an interesting film to say the least but at the same time there were so many parts that I felt myself being drawn into. Overall it was incredibly well written. I found myself thinking of all the films that I want to watch this season and the list I came up with is a good one. Each film reminding you why this season is the most beautiful. I do have to admit, watching some of them takes me back to my days living in New York. If I'm being honest New York plus New England have some of those most beautiful climate changes in the whole country. There is something so fascinating and yet intimate about being in a city that never sleeps to stop and see the changes of the season. And New England. Trees for miles and miles and miles.

With that being said having a good movie list is essentially vital. Be sure to have pumpkin spice anything on hand plus tea. You'll thank me later.

  1. Autumn in New York
  2. Dead Poets Society
  3. You've Got Mail
  4. Practical Magic
  5. Fantastic Mr. Fox
  6. St. Elmo's Fire
  7. Planes Trains & Automobiles
  8. When Harry Met Sally
  9. To Kill a Mocking Bird
  10. Time Travelers Wife
  11. Away We Go
  12. Rushmore
  13. Little Shop of Horrors
  14. Garden State
  15. The Worst Witch
  16. The Halloween Tree
  17. The Others
  18. Frankenstein
  19. Beetlejuice
  20. Hocus Pocus
  21. The Witches
  22. Lost in Transition
  23. Halloween Town
  24. Love Story
  25. It's The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown

And a few of spooky films because its a must.

Happy Autumnal Equinox

Autumn Tea + learning how to make your soul happy

Autumn Tea

+ learning to make your soul happy

  1. Hot Apple Cider Tea

  2. Pumpkin Spice

  3. Red Velvet Chocolate

  4. Peppermint Chocolate

IMG_0214.jpg

These are my favorite teas to drink all year long but especially during Autumn.  They're delicious to drink with or without adding anything to them. My personal favorite is adding Amaretto creamer just a teaspoon to the red velvet chocolate or peppermint chocolate. The pumpkin spice is amazing with a hint of anise or eating it with a piece of caramel black licorice. And of course the apple cider adding a sprinkle of cinnamon or even teaspoon of caramel creamer. The possibilities are endless.

And although I don't get to sit down and enjoy a cup of tea like I could pre-motherhood, sitting in my favorite spot with a good book and a journal to doodle or jot down a thought in a moments time is still one of my favorite things.

I think when you become a mother you tend to put yourself last always. At least for myself if I cannot get all my chores done then sometimes I feel as though the things I want to do the most get put on the back shelf so to speak. When in reality at some point in the day we all really need to stop and just be one with the universe and take time to just live. To just enjoy each second.

In a world where time never stops somehow

we must find the will to just make the time to make our souls happy

I think humans are really just the robots of everyday life. When do we ever we stop? Do we just keep going and going and going until the fire within ourselves slowly turns into a small flicker of light then eventually burns out?

We need to force ourselves to slow down and enjoy life. One day we will look back and realize the little things were big things.

" The faster we live, the less emotion is left in the world. The slower we live, the deeper we feel the world around us. "

I think we owe it to ourselves to be able to indulge in all of life's mysterious and wonderous moments. Starting with doing the things we love the most. That is why I am making a list of all the things I want to do, things that make my soul happy. A simple list that I can go to pick a few things to do when I'm having a crazy moment something that will calm my soul.

  • painting
  • reading
  • writing
  • photography
  • running
  • yoga
  • listen to music
  • meditate
  • take a nature walk
  • unplug from the world
  • drink tea
  • pray
  • write a book
  • enjoy silence
  •  learn the act of not caring. Really it is freeing.

The list is endless but this is my list. Life is too short to not treasure each minute because really whether it be good or bad each second we are alive its all a learning experience. Look for the good in all things.

" She who is brave is free "

Harry Potter - His and Her Quidditch FREE Printable

She's a Catch & He's a Keeper

I've been obsessing over Harry Potter lately and I realized I dont have a single piece of Harry Potter decor in my house at all! Actually it began when my awesome in laws went on a dream vacation to Scotland, France and of course England and they got to tour all the sets of Harry Potter. Can you imagine? Literally a dream! I'm saying that with stars in my eyes. So my mother in law also brought up this idea how she wanted to have a Gryffindor themed bathroom! I loved the idea! Now we are only renting our home for the next 9 months so for now my dreams of having a Harry Potter themed bathroom is on hold but.... When we move you know what will be on my to do list!

With that being said I started searching for awesome decor to find that well.. Everything was a little more than I wanted to pay for. There was no way I was willing to pay an arm and a leg for something that I could make myself. So I decided to come up with something myself.

His and Her Quidditch signs. Ummm can you say CUTE! Yes CUTE! I am totally in love! They are adorable!  So for the next week I am going to let this be a free download for anyone to use. All I ask is you follow my instagram @19mottavenue and share the instagram photo! After the week is up to purchase the 5x7 download for $5.00 each you can find my contact info on the contact page of my blog.

Be sure to click on the image to download it.

Please be sure to comment on what you think of the download! Thanks!

Harry Potter Pumpkin Pasties Copycat Recipe

Hogsmeade Pumpkin Pasties

Pumpkin Pasties - Harry Potter

Clear back to 4th grade (I just turned 25) I remember sitting in school listening to Mrs. Scoles read Harry Potter and the Philosphers(Sorcerers) Stone. And the magic started then for me. I think there was a huge obsession with witches at that time in my life. I actually recall reading any kind of book that involved witches. In school I dressed up as a witch for the book The Little Witch for a book report as well as making a diorama of a witch scene from the book The Witches. With that being said I took a liking to the entire Harry Potter series, so when the movies came out you can imagine how fun it really was for myself as a little girl.

In July I started the books over this time listening to them on Audible. I am currently about to finish The Goblet of Fire but can I just tell you how awesome it is listening to the books! I am a mom of routine which means I have a lot to do. So what better way to fold laundry or run on the treadmill than to listen to Harry Potter while I do it!

This last weekend we had a Harry Potter marathon. It started Friday and ended Sunday Evening. So Friday while Imogen was at school I baked Hogsmeade Pumpkin Pasties we also made Butterbeer to go with our Pumpkin Pasties. They were delicious! Imogen couldn't believe that we were eating the same food that Harry Potter had eaten while on the Hogwarts Express his first year on his way to Hogwarts School of witchcraft and wizardry. He bought them when he had realized that Ron did not have much to eat on their train ride.

“What she did have were Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans, Drooble's Best Blowing Gum, Chocolate Frogs, Pumpkin Pasties, Cauldron Cakes, Licorice Wands, and a number of other strange things Harry had never seen in his life.”

You can bet that as soon as that bell rang Friday afternoon Imogen ran like the wind so we could race home to get our Harry Potter Marathon on.

Pumpkin Pasties Harry Potter

Both of my girls loved them and I know that Artis (the 7 month old) would have too had he tried them. And if you've read my blog before the ultimate judge of all my cooking is Skyler(husband) his opinion counts and I will say this. Nothing that does not get his approval makes the blog. So that should tell you just how delicious these were. Not to mention incredibly simple.

Pumpkin Pasties Harry Potter

They are literally handheld Pumpkin Pies. Served best when warm. And of course eaten with a mountain of whip cream even though they really did not need it at all.

Hogsmeade Pumpkin Pasties

Wizarding World of Harry Potter Copycat Recipe

  • 1 Cup Pumpkie Pie Puree
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 t pumpkin pie spice
  • 3-4 Chocolate chip Morsels (optional)
  • 1/4 cup Kerrygold unsalted butter
  • 2 eggs
  • Pre-Packaged rollout pie crust.
  • Clove Spice & Brown sugar
  1. Pre-heat oven at 350
  2. Mix pumpkin, sugar, pumpkin pie spice and butter (softened) together.
  3. Roll out Pie crust. Using a circle cookie cutter or mason jar lid cut as many circles out of your pie crust as possible.
  4. Mix egg mixture together to make and egg wash. Then brush the egg onto the cut out pieces of crust.
  5. Cut an opening in the middle of your cutout pie crust for the pie crust that will be used to cover your pumpkin. ( I made a lightening bolt. )
  6. Place a tablespoon of the pumpkin mixture in the middle of the pie crust. After doing so place another circle cut out pie crust on top. Use a fork to seal the ends together.
  7. Sprinkle on ground clove and brown sugar over your egg washed pie crust.
  8. Place your pumpkin pasties on a parchment paper lined baking sheet.
  9. Bake for 10-12 minutes.
  10. Serve Warm with lots of whip cream!

Enjoy! Let me know how you like it!

Autumn Tree

Autumnal Equinox

Goodbye Summer, Hello Autumn

This is my season people. I love everything about it and that fact that I live in SoCal is a complete travesty as I dont get to see real Fall Foliage but I am not going to let that ruin it for. This is why for the last 3 years I have taken it upon myself to change things up a bit. Yes that is in fact a fall tree. I love it. And I dont care what any thinks about that. Seriously though. I get people telling me how crazy it is that I put up my Halloween or Autumn decorations in mid August but I have a few facts in my eyes that proves why I am not actually all that crazy.

  1. Everyone associates school starting with Fall. Even the schools do! You go back to school in the Fall. Everyone does except for those poor souls who start in July (sorry guys!) They always have out their cute fall leaves and some apples (yes i know of course there is apples schools associates apples with teaching and teachers and all that jazz!) Because! School starts at the beginning of Fall. See I am not so crazy!
  2. I live Southern California. The land of Summer is what I call it. I feel backwards here and lets face it. Its 90 flipping degrees in December here. If I waited for a change of weather to decorate for the change of season we would skip all the holidays and decorate our houses with flip flops and and sunshine all year long. That is a no go for me.
  3. Everyone loves pumpkin. You think you dont but I assure you, you do.
  4. My kids love fall. We even just celebrated my 5 year olds birthday. What was her request for a birthday cake? A witch cake! I tell you its genetic. The love of Autumn is genetic.
  5. You can't tell me that somewhere inside you, your heart does not flutter even the slightest when you see pumpkins and fun decorations fall food that smells incredible.

So yes! I decorated mid August. Call the decoration police on me! My kids love it and guess what? That tree up there^^^ yea, my husband bought that for my BIRTHDAY! August 8th. (Thanks Babe!) Yes he even supports it. He's a good man for sure.

So I wanted to share my Autumn wonderland here inside our cute little house. And I know your going to ask so I will beat you to it first. My house is normally very decorated and I think because of that reason my kids are so use to seeing things like this everyday that they dont touch them out of the sheer fact that its just " normal " to them. Anyways I hope you enjoy.

p.s. I am fully aware Autumn does not start until September 22nd.

How 19 Mott Avenue came to be.

19 Mott Avenue

New London, CT

In the beginning...

This is where the magic happened. Dreams were coming true. So many memories happened here. I miss New England so much. My first memory here was walking down the beach in Neptune Park looking at the lighthouse that was across the street from us. From the amazing wood siding to its colonial style feel it really was a dream.

Living in the Connecticut Sound was a total dream. Honestly When I think about my time in New England this is what I think of except for everything being crimson, burnt orange and twenty shades of brown colored leaves.  When Skyler drove us onto the historical Mott Avenue I was beyond amazed. Living across from the beach where seasons existed was pretty much a dream come true. But walking into the house was even better. Little bits and pieces of everything I had ever imagined wanting for a home came together like puzzle and although this was not a permanent home it definitely felt like home for the moment.

This was the first home Skyler and I lived in when we had first got married. I get chills just looking over and reminiscing over the past and just remembering how magical our time was there. I know Sky has a different story being that he associates New England with Navy and his time in New England wasn't like mine but there was a lot of great things about being here.

These stairs we're incredible and actually the first thing I noticed about the house. You walk into the house and its this amazing spacious soul filled piece of history. The house was built in 1909 and was also down the street from the Lighthouse Inn which was popular with Hollywood stars in the 1940's for a weekend getaways. This house and neighborhood was an experience I will never forget with countless memories and some of the best days of my life I will never forget my time there.

Here. Right here, Skyler and I promised our souls to be one. Right here we we're married. Here we eloped on Cold winter night. The windows open, listening to the ocean while the fire  flames danced behind us. We were married. I moved away from Salt Lake City to be married here in New London and began my journey with the most incredible man I had ever met. Although it was purely coincidence for me to live in New York City and he in Connecticut at the same time. I believe our lives we're meant to find each other in the most peculiar way. The first time I saw him was at a train station. The song playing at the time? First Train Home by Imogen Heap. Every little piece of our lives have meaning behind it. We were two introverts destined to find each other.  You know he saved me. He saved me from a life that I was not meant to be living. He took me away and filled my heart with adventure and experiences that I never knew to be possible. And he thinks he's the lucky one. One thing I know is this -- I know my mother though she isn't here in this world. I know she was in on it. In on bringing our lives together. I know she would have loved him.

This kitchen. So many memories. Sky made our first dinner in here. I also burned a lot of dinners in here. My many attempts at being a wife. I should have told him I was expert in making cereal. It was in here I knew we would be eating a lot of pizza. Thankfully Foxs Den Pizza was literally around the corner tucked away in the neighborhood.

One of my favorite moments was sitting at this dinning room table making my oldest daughters baby blanket while Skyler was away on an underway. They had left and were gone a while.

Nights that Skyler wasn't home I would sit outside with tea and just listen to the waves crash on the shore and that is how I fell asleep every night. Literal white noise constantly playing. In the morning it was the same. Every morning waking up on 19 Mott Avenue was a dream. Some days even now with three little children its still a dream. I married a dream giver. A wish granter. The love of my life. The one who would make my dreams reality. The one who never stopped believing in me even when I dont believe in myself. I can't even begin to tell you how much I love him. We have this certain silent but mutual understanding. He tells me he loves me with his eyes. It always amazes me how the universe came together for just one day to make it possible for us to meet. All it took was one kiss. And I was hooked. Actually if I'm being completely honest. It was the fact that he and I were both listening to Sufjan Stevens at the same time in our lives when we were freshly made friends. We have these moments in our lives when we didnt even know each other. When we were across the oceans from each other  both going through these life growing moments, going through similar situations in our lives so when we found each other we could have this unspoken understanding. Its little things like this that confirms to me that the universe was meant to bring us together no matter how far away we were from each other. No matter what it took it was meant to happen. And so it did. I sometimes have these moments that terrify the hell out of me but I think what if we had never met? I could never find anyone who understands me like you do.

I love you Skyler. Thanks for being the one.
