Clear Intentions - Going to bed early the night before is a great way to start. Trying to wake up monday morning is hard enough so having a goodnights rest should be #1. If you wake up feeling like you want to hit the snooze button then your doing it wrong. At least 8 hours of sleep should be the minimum in order to have an overall productive morning.
MUSIC! - Yes you read that right Music! In a recent study 15 scientists found that Listening to uplifting music in the morning makes people happy, lowers stress level, elevates your mood, reduces depression, helps you sleep better and raises IQ performance. So get out your headphones and hit that play button!
Nutritional Breakfast - Eating a nutritional breakfast plays a key role with not only how your mood will be throughout your day but also your eating habits! If you eat something sugary for breakfast you are likely to crash before lunch time. Eating a big breakfast really is as important as they say it is. I like to go with the old saying " Eat like like a Prince in the morning, Eat like a peasant for lunch and like a pauper for dinner. Eating better in the morning will ensure that you are more likely to chose meals that are healthier throughout the rest of your day.
Exercise - If I dont exercise in the morning I feel sluggish and really irritable. Whether its Running, strength training or morning yoga it allows you to focus on you. I know that when I exercise I am able to clear my mind and be more focused. Exercising in the morning gets your heart pumping allowing those natural endorphins to be released aiding in decreasing and sometimes getting rid of the 2:00 p.m. fatigue altogether. Lastly you are more likely to be positive and experience a euphoric attitude.
Write down your goals! - Get out a paper and pencil and jot down what you need and would like to accomplish for that day. People who write down their goals are more likely to take action vs. those who do not. Writing your goals down forces you to clarify what you really want. At the end of the day no one wants to come home and then remember something they forgot to especially if its important. Be specific. There has been too many times where I write down only a few what seem like keywords at the moment to go back and realize that I can't even remember what I was referring too! And finally, make deadlines! Goals and projects are much easier forgotten and push off to the side when there isn't a deadline.
Go put on your positive pants! Its Monday! Time to take over the world!
