Whenever I think about what my personal style is I kind of just think its just me. Plain ole' Alexa. I don't think there's a name for it. I love so many different looks from Comfy big sweaters to a Bohemian Timeless Chic look. I love to mix and match. I'm kind of all over the place really and I'm perfectly Okay with that! I think thats what makes me, ME. I don't put myself in any category. However when it comes to finding clothes I do believe there are certain things to take into consideration to make sure you look Stylish and you stay Comfortable.
Style is very personal.
It has nothing to do with fashion.
Fashion is over quickly.
Style is forever.

O N E - First and foremost clothing must always fit and be forgiving. One thing that bothers me and makes me feel self conscious is trying on a pair of pants or a shirt to find that it fits weird on my body. Wearing an article of clothing that fits correctly really does make all the difference. If you are wearing something that doesn't fit, you are going to be uncomfortable all day long. Not to mention you'll be thinking everyone is staring at you (at least that is how I feel.) which is probably not the case but makes things worse when you are already uncomfortable.
T W O - Stop buying fast fashion. Buy GOOD quality clothes that will LAST. People wonder why clothing doesn't last these days but are only willing to spend $10 dollars on a pair of pants. Lets be honest a good pair of jeans are at least $30-$50 dollars. Now I am not your mom, I'm not saying you need stop going to all your favorite stores but before buying that thin neon fall off the shoulder pillow case like shirt for a regular days wear, really ask yourself. Do you really need it? If so go ahead and make your purchase. Quality over Quantity will always last.
T H R E E - Go through your closest and pick 8-10 favorite outfits. Tops, bottom, dresses, shoes set aside any accessories such as hats, scarfs etc. Next what colors do you feel you look best in? I always go for Neutrals. You can never go wrong with neutral colors where as you can wear certain colors and look washed out. Pick clothing that Flatters your specific body shape. You don't need to find something that shows off a ton of skin (or you may want too if thats for you) but find something that does not make your curves Disappear. For me I have an hour glass shape body. I like to pick clothing that simply accentuates my curves.
F O U R - Determining your style. These days styles are endless. Preppy, Glam, Boho, French chic, Feminine, Classic, Edgy, Comfy, Artsy. Determining this makes it easier for you to find clothing. Pinterest is going to be your best friend when it comes to finding your own style if it isn't already. Make a Pinterest board for all your favorite outfits.
F I V E - Choosing a style of clothing that fits your lifestyle is also extremely important as well. I think this is a very obvious step. If you have a certain job or do certain daily tasks or hobbies that involve you getting dirty or being somewhere that could add major wear and tear on nice clothing your obviously not going to want to wear something that you wouldn't be okay with potentially ruining. That is not to say you can't or shouldn't buy clothing like that at all but I wouldn't recommend wearing during those certain times. If you have an event or somewhere to go even dinner and you want to look fabulous then definitely keep some of those styles in your closest.
S I X - Where you live is another important detail to consider on choosing your personal style. I have lived from coast to coast From New England to Sunny SoCal and I will say this. It is Humid Hot 2 maybe 3 months out of the year where I lived the rest of the year is cool so of course I had mostly long sleeve clothing. When we moved to SoCal the first day we got here was at the end of September. It was 104 Degrees.. It was HOT. I was not prepared. Needless to say we spent the next week adjusting our wardrobes to our new lives.
S E V E N - A style that upholds your Standards & Values. This step is important to only You really. However your personal style is also what represents YOU. Its what separates you from the world. It makes you Unique. If you are like me I have a firm belief in modesty. I know these days that others have a different outlook that showing off your body is empowering and builds their confidence but for me holding True to my beliefs, my Standards, my Values, that is empowering to me. Your style reflects your personality.

Of course that is only a few off the top of my head. I do think style is important as its a way to allow our personalities to shine and be creative through clothing. If its one thing I believe in, it's expressing ourselves in any way our hearts desire. Whether it be through clothing, hair, makeup, accessories.. Whatever it is make sure it represents you.
